- Power electronic equipment is widely used in new power systems. The millisecond-level control of power electronic equipment closely aligns with the time scale of fault detection of relay protection. Its nonlinear, time-varying response characteristics have a profound impact on traditional relay protection principles designed based on the linear constant response characteristics of synchronous generators. The issue of relay protection being ill-suited for power systems with power electronics has become prominent. This session will focus on discussions regarding new relay protection technologies and engineering practices in AC and DC power systems, exploring development paths for relay protection technology in future new power systems.
